Jan Liddle, Founder CATS
Jan Liddle was a determined, dedicated woman who despite the many health issues she suffered throughout her life, gave everything, both emotionally and physically to the cats she has cared for over the last 30 years.
After working for other charitable organisations for nearly 15 years, Jan made the decision to make her dream a reality and took the opportunity to open her own Cat Rescue, to cover an area she felt was lacking in cat rescue in Fife.
That was the beginning of Cupar Animal Trust Shelter or Cupar CATS as the cat rescue organisation has more recently become known to Fifers. Since officially opening its doors in 1992 Cupar CATS has gone from strength to strength thanks to the hard work and dedication of Jan. Regardless of the problem at hand, the hurdles to jump or her own health she would always manage to find light at the end of the tunnel and pull the cats through.
It is impossible to summise the work Jan has done over all these years as simple words would not do it justice. Suffice to say that without her grit and perserverance Cupar Animal Trust Shelter (Cupar CATS) would not be the organisation it is today and several thousand cats would not now be enjoying a happy, care free life.
Forever Fighting
Anyone who knew Jan knew that she would never let anything go when it came to the life or welfare of a cat and always had an answer for everything!! She would take the bull by the horns and was at times a lone voice in the vastness.
Despite her many health troubles Jan remained at the helm guiding her ship through the storms it would face, never once stopping until all was done.
This fighting spirit is what I believe saw her through these years. Sadly in Xmas of 2007 Jan was diagnosed with Cancer for a second time which she would not be fortunate enough to overcome. Jan left this world peacefully on the 14th February 2008 aged 63 surrounded by family.
Watching Over Her Flock
I firmly believe that Jan continues to watch over her flock from above and is happily surrounded by the many feline loves she had over the years now at Rainbow Bridge. I'm also very sure that there are plenty of wise cracks too as she watches our every move!
It was Jans wish that Cupar Animal Trust Shelter (Cupar CATS) continue the work that she started all those years ago. Our goal, with your help, is to do our utmost to ensure we can deliver that wish.
